Christmas Day and Church

I sat in church and I was so proud of my children because all of them had made an effort to attend even though they consider church to be full of faults and hypocrites. They had made the effort to travel home from the various places they live to make me happy, which it did, and as I looked at each of them in turn, children and spouses I knew a rush of pride for all of them. What they weren’t to know though was that as important this was to me there was something else that was more important.

I stood singing Christmas Carols throughout the service and with each hymn I remembered my mother waiting for all of us in Heaven. As I looked again at my family my only prayer was that they too would go to Heaven. In order to do this they need to look beyond the church and its faults, to God Himself and make that total commitment to Him, give their lives to His control.

Oh I understand that they will have to make their own choices but oh my prayer is that all of them will make the choice that will see us all gathered together one day forever.

“And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.” Mark 13:27.
