The Colourful Sheep
On Glenburnie Homestead farm there is a sheep. It’s a very colourful sheep because it’s wool is not just white; it has black patches in it. The other sheep on the farm don’t tease it anymore but they thought it was funny when it was little. They thought that the black patches made him look very dirty. The dirt in their wool could be washed out when the factory cleaned it to make clothes with. The brown stuff in his wool would stay there forever.
Jerry knew that some people were like that colourful sheep, different. Sometimes they feel in a happy mood and at other times they feel sad. They often get picked on because they are not exactly the same as everyone else.
Everyone has good and bad personalities. Some people are just very good at hiding the bad stuff. Humans are never made exactly the same.
The Bible tells us that we are made in God’s image. “Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground." Genesis 1:26. Jerry thought that must mean that God is so big that He could make all the humans different.
It made Jerry sad to think that many people were like the white sheep on the farm. They didn’t like things to be different, they wanted everything to be the same.
“Oh, dear” Jerry said to himself, “don’t they understand how big God is? If He made everything the same, then the world would be very boring. I hope that one day they will understand that God made each person differently because they are very special and God is the greatest maker there is.”
