Consider the Lilac Bush
I was gardening again, after some very useful rain had fallen. As I pulled weeds and seedlings out I was suddenly surprised to come across my lilac bush. I hadn’t seen this particular bush for so long that I was certain that I must have transplanted somewhere else in the garden but here it was.
I proudly showed it off to my husband whose explanation was that it might had just suckered up or I had just got lucky.
You know as I looked at that bush I thought about how we stress and stew about what we should and shouldn’t do and how everything we do in our world is going to bring about a major disaster. Yet, here was a plant that had been missing for years and all I could think was, God and the rain brought it back.
I thought about how Jesus said: “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Luke 12:27. They don’t even stress about where they are planted. They don’t say to God you must plant me over there because the soil is better suited to my needs. They just put down their roots into God’s earth and trust Him to look after them.
So what can we learn from my lilac bush. There is no point stressing about everything, we should just put our trust is God not matter what the situation is and allow Him to look after us and He will help us to grow where He has planted us.
