Legs, Sad and Angry
Legs
Legs are there to support a table, chair, a body…... They create a space between the floor and the supported surface. They come in various lengths, which means that the amount of space available is also variable.
Again I am reminded that we all have very different abilities and functions within the church and life. We support different people and allow others the space to grow because of who and what we are in Christ and the gifts He has given us.
“Having then, gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,” Romans 12:6a.
Prayer: Thank you for making us all very different.
Sad
When I think about my upcoming birthday, I sometimes feel sad that time is running out for me to achieve many of the dreams that I have had over the years.
Yet, I remind myself that it is more important to carry out the will of God rather than my own dreams. If they are part of His plan they will happen, if not, they are of little consequence. I also have to remember that I have achieved many things that I didn’t even dream about.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 55:8.
Prayer: Thank you Lord, for knowing better than me what I can achieve.
Angry
A lot of things make me angry. When people are being bullied, money is being considered more important than people and their welfare. Lately, I have spent many hours during the night, praying for those in authority who are making snap decisions that affect many people’s lives, without consideration of what the social cost will be.
Yet, as I pray, I remember that God knows all those involved. He knows who has not listened to Him and who is pleading with Him for help. I am also reminded that He cares for everyone. He is in control and I have to trust Him.
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22.
Prayer: Lord, please protect those who are being bullied, particularly by those in authority.
