Grounded

We had an extended period of rain which resulted in our driveway being damaged. This was not a problem for the 4-wheel drive but I only have a small car. So it got to the stage where getting to town was too difficult. I was grounded on several days. There were other times when I had been grounded through illness or injury.

I thought about being grounded by our parents when we were children. We were often grounded as punishment for inappropriate behaviour. It then occurred to me that sometimes God grounds us to give us the time to do something special. Unlike our parents He gives us time to spend with Him, our children or to do something special that will give glory to Him.

“O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” Isaiah 25:1.

Challenge: Lord help me to see that you only have good reasons for grounding me at times.
