Connecting Patches
I was patching some trousers one day and after I had inserted the pins that were to hold the patch on I noticed that the pins didn’t go through the bottom layer of fabric. They only went through the patch. They didn’t connect the patch with the trousers. I had several goes to get the pins all the way through but if I hadn’t the patch would have moved while I was sewing. Yes, it might have worked but it would have most likely twisted and looked messy.
I wondered how many times we try to fix a personal, spiritual or social issue but don’t make a real connection with either the problem or the people involved. One thing for sure is Jesus does. He fixed the widow’s bleeding and then connected with her. On other occasions He connected with the person first before fixing their problem.
With God’s help we must continue to try and connect properly with an issue and/or the people involved when trying to fix problems otherwise the patch, while it might work, may not be the most effective solution.
Jesus says in John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” This is what a real connection is about.
Prayer: Lord, help me to make real connections with those around me.
