Dry Wells

In times of drought sometimes the Well runs dry. There is just nothing left to help the stock and the crops. Yet, even in a drought there is a renewal, a fertilisation going on unseen.

Here, on our farm the ground also cracks wide open, often for many feet into the earth. It’s a danger to stock, that get their legs stuck down them and my husband has even had motorbike tyres fall into them, but they also let in the air and mulch that falls. They are opened when the rain falls, and if it falls hard enough it goes deep down into the earth quickly without having to soak down slowly.

You have to know that there are times when people feel the same way. Dry, barren and useless, but there can also be a process of renewal going on, while they sleep, rest and take time out of life and rest in the Lord.

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” Psalm 23:2-3.

Prayer: Lord, when I feel dry and drained, please let me rest in you for new strength and refreshment.
