Delicious – The smell of Rain Lamentations 3:22-26
Like rain to the drought affected soil. Without water nothing survives, even the soil will blow away if it is dry long enough. The rain washes everything clean. It makes the dams full and the rivers to flow. It soaks down into the subsoil where it waits for roots to get deep enough for it to be used. Eventually, the grass will grow but that doesn’t happen overnight, you need to wait for that blessing to come. Then it can be used as food for livestock.
God’s mercy is food for our soul. Without His mercies we would not survive. Yet, God is not only faithful but generous, sending new mercies each and every day. There may be some days though when we don’t see just how good God is to us. It is easy to miss these good thing when we are being impatient or distracted. Sometimes we have to wait because God knows that the more we depend on Him the stronger we will become.
Verse 26 tells us that our problems will not overcome us but help us to grow as we wait quietly on the Lord for the answers. He is eternally faithful and merciful.
